Young KAGIDER Days’ second event took place on Aril 26th in Erzurum Atatürk University’s Mavi Salon; 126 students participated.
Atatürk University Vice Chancellor and Law Faculty Dean, Dr. Fahrettin Korkmaz, described the impressive studies carried out on the role of women in society. She said that “I would like to share my happiness about the progress made so far. While women are truly the core of the family, unfortunately their rights have not been acknowledged and implemented until today.” After the watching Young KAGIDER’s film – made in order to spread awareness among youth –KAGIDER Board of Directors member, Münteha Adalı, described Young KAGIDER’s project to the participants. She ended her speech with a quote from Doctor Leon: “Women really do rule the world. They just haven’t figured it out yet. When they do, and they will, we’ll all be in big trouble.”
Mihrimah Belma Satırthen spoke about how receiving a university diploma is not enough to succeed in life and overcome adversities, arguing that “simply receiving a school diploma and hanging it on your wall is useless. It means nothing. Simply having a diploma will not help you overcome life’s adversities because you know nothing about life, you have no experience. If you are struggling and want to succeed, try to enter the business world. I have met women who are graduates of Boğaziçi University who do not even know how to ride the bus. I have seen women who are university graduates who do not know what their rights are in a divorce case. No matter what happens in life, find your place in the business world.”
After her speech, panel speakers Ebru Baybara Demir and Vakur Alemdar shared their entrepreneurial experiences with the participants.
The seminar ended with a question and answer session.
