December 5 is the Day for Women to Win the Right to Vote in Turkey 88 years ago today, under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the young Republic of Turkey granted Turkish women the right to vote and be elected, paving the way for women to gain strength in the struggle for universal equality. This right was granted 36 years before Switzerland, 11 years before France and 14 years before Belgium. One year after women were given the right to vote and be elected, Turkish women, who participated in the elections for the first time on February 8, 1935, had already entered the Turkish Grand National Assembly with 18 deputies. This important movement gained a universal character to strengthen awareness of women's rights all over the world. .The struggle for existence and empowerment of women in political and social life in our country and in the world continues to inspire women from every generation with all their achievements. I congratulate the day of December 5th, and I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who contributed.
