On October 24, 2024, KAGİDER’s EU Representative and Senior Advisor for European Policy, Ayşe Yürekli, addressed EU stakeholders at the High-Level Forum on Enlargement, which was organized for the first time by the European Commission and the European Economic and Social Committee. Yürekli represented Turkish civil society at this significant event.

In her speech, Yürekli highlighted the support of Turkish civil society for the country’s strategic goal of full EU membership and emphasized Turkey's expectation of fair and equal treatment from the EU. She stated that the existence of a strong civil society is an indispensable driving force for successful EU enlargement. Yürekli also drew attention to the fact that enlargement must focus not only on political, economic, and technical aspects, but also on democratic and social dimensions. She concluded her speech with a call: "Let’s work together to ensure that no one is left behind in this journey of transformation."
