KAGİDER EU Representative Ayşe Yürekli represented KAGİDER as a Member of the Enlargement Candidate Countries Mechanism (ECM) in the expert listening session and the first working group meetings for the new opinion developed under the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), titled “Unleashing the Fifth Freedom: ERA Law”, aiming to strengthen the European Research Area. Since the beginning of 2024, KAGİDER has been part of the civil society group of the ECM initiative.

The “Good Jobs: Empowering Women Entrepreneurs in Non-Food Retail” program, jointly implemented by KAGİDER and Boyner Group, successfully completed its first training term for 2025. The graduation day, which began with the opening speech of KAGİDER President Esra Bezircioğlu, celebrated 27 women entrepreneurs who completed an intensive 9-week training. During the “Good Jobs Festival” event held as part of the graduation, past participants of the program gathered to promote and sell their products.

KAGİDER EU Representative Ayşe Yürekli attended the STID (Civil Society Business World Members) meeting held at Turkey’s Permanent Representation to the EU, where current developments in the EU were evaluated.

We hosted the Chair of the Committee on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Ms. Çiğdem Erdoğan, and a delegation of legislative experts from the Department of Laws and Resolutions at KAGİDER. A productive meeting was held on policies supporting women entrepreneurship.

During the “Journey of Culture and Solidarity,” we shared moments of hope with children at Hatay’s EXPO area ahead of the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day. With the energy of play, joy, and being together, we renewed our hopes for the future. We witnessed the power of production and labor at women's cooperatives and, during our visit to KAGİDER Member Elif Ovalı, we listened to the teachings of the earth through our connection with nature. In historical bazaars, around tables, and on the streets, we traced the spirit of sharing, culture, and solidarity. The opening conference of the “Local Women Power” project, implemented by KAGİDER in cooperation with Gaziantep Oğuzeli Municipality, was held. KAGİDER Board Member Beyza Beyzade Berkol, UNDP Civil Engagement Project Manager and Chief Technical Advisor Neslihan Cankara, and Oğuzeli Mayor Bekir Öztekin delivered opening speeches. In the “Women’s Representation in the Economy and Decision-Making Processes” panel, UN Women Program Manager Duygu Arığ, Gaziantep Chamber of Commerce Assembly Member Hülya Akkaya, and KAGİDER Secretary General Yeşim Seviğ participated as panelists. The conference concluded with the presentation of a meta-analysis report prepared within the scope of the project and an interactive discussion with women from Oğuzeli.

The “Local Women Power” Project is implemented under the “Civil Participation Grant Program” within the scope of the “Project to Strengthen Civil Participation for Democratic Local Governance in Turkey,” financed by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme. The beneficiary of the project is the Union of Municipalities of Turkey. The leading institution of the project under the IPA II Civil Society sector is the Directorate for EU Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

We hosted women agricultural producers from Georgia at the KAGİDER office. With the participation of KAGİDER Board Member Beyza Beyzade Berkol and Sustainability Committee Members Zeynep Gönenç and Zeynephan Gemicioğlu, views were exchanged on supporting women entrepreneurs in green jobs.

A panel titled “Women and Investment: A Stronger Future” was held in cooperation with Yatırım Finansman and KAGİDER. The event opened with a speech by KAGİDER President Esra Bezircioğlu. In the panel, TÜSİAD Chief Economist Gizem Öztok Altınsaç and TSKB Chief Economist and Director Dr. Burcu Ünüvar shared valuable insights on economic outlooks from market and development perspectives, forecasts for 2025, and the role of women in economic development in light of macroeconomic data.

Developed with the technical support of the World Bank, our FEM Certificate evaluates the human resources policies of private sector organizations in terms of gender equality. Having successfully completed the evaluation process, Nurol Bank received the FEM Certificate thanks to its human-centered approach that strengthens the role of women in business life.

We completed our “Transformation-Oriented Leadership Training” series, conducted under the leadership of the KAGİDER Education and Mentorship Committee, with Müge Çevik’s Lego Serious Play Workshop on April 29. We are happy to have completed a productive program where we focused on an inspiring transformation process and discussed balanced and effective leadership approaches with our participants.

KAGİDER EU Representative Ayşe Yürekli attended the EESC General Assembly at the European Commission as a special guest of EESC President Oliver Röpke. She participated in the sessions on “Mid-Term Evaluation of Cohesion Policy,” “EU Foreign Policy in the New Geopolitical Reality,” and “Democracy and Digitalization,” where Raffaele Fitto, Vice President of the European Commission for Cohesion and Reforms, was the keynote speaker.
