Young KAGIDER Days – Yıldız Teknik University

Young KAGIDER Days’ first event took place on April 18th at the Yıldız Teknik University, in which 80 students participated.

Yıldız Teknik University Director Dr. İsmail Yüksek gave the opening speech, stating that countries aware of the importance of women employment help to create new opportunities and jobs.

Following Dr. İsmail’s speech, JP Morgan’s Head of the Board of Directors, Belma Özmen, described the company’s social responsibility projects that aim to improve JP Morgan’s education programs and support women entrepreneurs.

After showing Young KAGIDER’s awareness film targeting youth, member of the KAGIDER board Münteha Adalı described Young KAGIDER’s activities and goals.

The founder of Trendyol Demet Mutlu then stated that being successful first requires individuals to find happiness. Answering the participants’ questions, she also said the following: “In starting a business, coming up with the idea is the easiest part. The rest of the process is very hard: marketing, financing, becoming an administrator, finding investors, being a good leader, choosing a team, training and educating your team as well as gaining experience, are very important. A supportive team and partner is also a must.” She added that success is related to both business and social life.

Didem Güney Alsoy also shared her experiences with the participants: “My interest in entrepreneurship began while I was still in boarding school. I started working when I was 16. My family never provided me with support. The only thing you can really choose in life is your partner. Not only is there a successful woman behind every man, but there is also a successful man behind every woman.”

A member of the board of trustees of the Community Volunteers Foundation Emine Tuğba Jabban explained how “being a social entrepreneur requires sensitivity, passion and faith in oneself. Do something for people you will not know and have never known… Be the change you want to see in the world.”

Semih Yalman began his presentation by declaring “Rules are made to be broken! This is part of evolution!” He emphasized that individuals should love themselves and strive to find happiness, that dreams are more important than knowledge. He added “Do not watch – be involved!”
